Using an old Canon SLR, the wrong lenses, the wrong film, and with little background, training or knowledge of photography I wasted several rolls of film and what was at the time a good deal of money for a batch of prints that at best could be said to contain pretty colors.

At some point life intruded and by the early 80's I had set my hobby aside, looking for something less expensive and frustrating to spend my limited teenage funds on. I put the camera away, the pictures got stored, then lost. They weren't necessarily the best photographs in the world, though some were really good, but from a historical perspective many of them were important. Some of the bands I shot back then included Triumph, Journey, Rick Derringer, The Jam, The Beat, XTC, and a series of performance and candid backstage and dressing room shots of The Ramones during their "Road to Ruin" tour.

In 2006 my interest in music photograhy was re-kindled when I attended the SXSW Music/Film/Interactive festival. Along with compatriots from my online business, we launched a music blog/web-zine called club kingsnake shortly afterwards and that has allowed me to pursue my interest with a zeal that some have called obsessive .

I focus on shooting performance stills primarily in the Austin area and my work has not only appeared on our own web site, but on many others including The Austin American Statesman, MSNBC.COM, and MTV.COM. I do not sell my photos, but bands, labels, and publicists may use my photos for free if they contact me. I am also available as a stringer for music oriented publications that need photos in the Austin area.

I shoot almost exclusivily with Nikon D300s, and a wide array of primarily Nikon lenses.
